THE OFFICIAL STATEMENT (CLUB)

Fri May 06, 2016 3:45 pm

Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that with the season coming to an end, a decision has been made to re-structure our first-team coaching staff.

Friday 6th May 2016

As such, Russell Slade has been asked to take on a new role as Head of Football, reporting directly to CEO, Ken Choo. It is felt that appointing Russell in this new position will ensure that all football decisions remain in trusted and experienced hands.

Russell will continue in charge of team affairs for our final game of the season at home to Birmingham City on Saturday.

Speaking of the decision, Tan Sri Vincent Tan said: “I’d like to thank Russell for his efforts since his appointment here in October 2014.

“Since then, we have seen stabilisation and progression, both on and off the field. Crucially, he is a man who I have been able to trust.

“Russell’s contribution has been significant, and I’m pleased that he’s accepted this new position to stay at the Football Club. He will help us as we look towards the future and begin shaping our squad for the new season. I also feel that he can help us create additional synergy between Cardiff City and our sister clubs."

Russell Slade said: “I’d like to express my sincerest of thanks to Tan Sri Vincent Tan for giving me the opportunity to join this Football Club back in 2014.

“I feel that we’ve made progress on and off the field during this time, achieving stability and giving the Club solid ground on which to move forward.

“I’m therefore very pleased to accept the new position of Head of Football, which allows me to play my part in our future.”

Does that mean someone like Bellamy coming in as manager but with Slade keeping eye on transfer budget/wages transfer deals etc?
Also think we should show him good support tomorrow, like him or loath him he has done well considering the conditions and stabilising the club. Russell do the :ayatollah: Russell :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Justin Edingburgh please.

Tan has obviously been hurt by the Malky affair so this makes sense to him.

However it would rule out experienced guys like Warnock who would surely want full control.

Good to see Slade rewarded.
He's not set the world alight, but has done a decent job.

Onwards and upwards

If Slade is looking after all things football related at the club, does this mean he will have a say or an input in who the next manager is ?
