I am sure the objective set by the club for both signings was to obtain a top 6 finish. I can understand perhaps that if the loans had been successful in regards to the players being fondly remembered by fans, then they would deserve to wear the shirts for the last time and be given a good reception by the fans who appreciated the effort despite falling short of top 6. HOWEVER
Does the aforementioned scenario sound fitting to the reality?
Ameobi was a flop who still has not made much of an impact in professional football. Lawrence started o.k, but, as of now is yet another who's made little impact in professional football other than having a high profile due to being a graduate of a PL academy.
To be blunt, the objectives have not been reached, this is not their faults, it's a collective fault of the whole first team squad and management. However, there signings have certainly not caught the imagination of the fans while playing for us, with Lawrence given some leeway in being the only Welshman that got some game time amongst our anglo-continental squad.
To the point: What is the point in playing them last match? There is no need to thank them on Sat, they came here to develop themselves and have not really shown anything to enhance their reputations.
I am sure Brum mgr Gary Rowlett will use the game as a chance to blood his youth players and give them hope and confidence in making the breakthrough to the first team.
Our loan signings have had enough game-time to develop themselves, time to move on now and that includes Sat for me.
time to free 2 spaces at least and give some others who need development minutes the chance to impress.
