FORMER SWAN SWIMS AWAY BUT NOW TREADING WATER

Jon Shelvey was an important player for Swansea and commanded a huge fee when they sold him to Newcastle United in the recent January Transfer Window. Hailed as the man to steer Newcastle to safety in the Premier League, he was made Captain and was in contention for the England Squad for this year's Euros

What has happened since is a mystery to many, as the obviously talented Shelvey has seen a massive dip in form

When discussing the positive impact of former Spurs man Andros Townsend at Newcastle, pundit Jamie Redknapp said: "The same can’t be said for his fellow January joiner Jonjo Shelvey. He has gone from captaining the side to making cameos from the bench."

Shelvey, 24, played just two minutes against Palace at the weekend, and seven minutes of the draw against Liverpool. Against his former side Swansea he was given just 24 minutes.

Since Shelvey's £12m departure, Swansea have gone on to ensure their Premier League status for at least another year and it currently appears that Huw Jenkins and the Swansea Board may just have pulled off their best deal to date; certainly on the player front.
