Tom Lawrence/ Scott Malone

What happened to Tom Lawrence. We were playing our best stuff of season when Lawrence was linking well with Immers , Ralls and Pilkington back 2 months ago, all of a sudden Nooney is back and Lawrence doesn't get a look in????. Love Nooney on his day but he hasn't done it lately and in my opinion we have missed Lawrence s directness and clever runs. Results dipped as a result. Unfortunately Scott Malone has been our weak link all season due to crap distribution going forward . We have missed Fabio loads and it was criminal when he was on the bench as it was with Bruno. How majority of fans can see this but management team don't has baffled me. You have to play your class players who give there all.
For me it has to be thanks Russell for your sterling efforts but it's time for a new man to take us on. Keep what we have add a few decent strikers and a true leader in the pitch and we may have a chance next season. Onwards and upwards ! :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird: :sladeout: :bluebird:

Agree with this except the keep what we got bit
Reality tells me we can't afford the wages of Marshall ,manga whitts noone Malone,Fabio,Lawrence, ameobi, which is a combined £10 million a year
Then there's le fondre Macheda,Doyle, probably costing over £2.5 million a year
We will need a first team squad of about 25 players let's say 5 are from the development squad that leaves 20 let's say the average wage would be £12k a week thats £22 million a year I would bet the development squad costs over £1million in wages
Then there's manager coaches medics science guys ,dietitians all adding up
Our season ticket. Income is no more than £3million with away fans and walk up revenue of only just over £2million
I will let you do the maths and bare in mind I haven't touched on travel, kit , catering ,hotel stays ,and lots more out goings
And yes I know there will be other income but no where near enough
With out tan and his money we are not ready for a premier challenge

I know how they could save quite a few bob if they wanted to.

For a start off, cut back on the backroom staff. Have you noticed how many hangers-on there are by the dugout on matchday?

Just look over the next time there's a minute's applause or a minute's silence before a game - there must be about 20 people standing in a line - Christ knows what they all do.

And perhaps they could start travelling to away games by luxury coach on the day of the game rather than flying up the night before and staying in a hotel. Let's be honest, they couldn't have played much worse in the Hull, Middlesborough, Leeds etc games if they'd gone by bus rather than by private plane.

Those small changes would save a considerable sum of money.

Perhaps then we could afford a proper manager instead of getting one from Poundland.

It all needs looking at but I think you'll find that the backroom staff numbers have reduced significantly since the Malky days who had sports science expert for every bodily function

What happened to Tom Lawrence?

Slade bought at player who should have played on the right of midfield but resolutely played a left winger on that side who was told to cut inside all the time. That's what happened to Tom Lawrence. It was more a question to be directed to the manager than player.

"Unfortunately Scott Malone has been our weak link all season ... "

Any left back asked to do two players' work on the left would have struggled and been out of position after attacking. He was supposed to be our defender AND left winger. And what was Whittingham doing while this was going on? Hiding in the central left channel. Three things:

- any full back would have struggled trying to make sense of this role.
- we had better left backs on our books.
- if Malone was asked to defend (like Peltier on the right) and a proper winger played in front of him the fragile left side would have been more robust.

Well said. Noone come back and despite poor performances and no end product kept his place. Thus slade done the only thing he knew how and that was to play Lawrence out of position up front and on the left and then let him rot on the bench.

Oh yeah and barely even gave him a run out when noone on multiple occasions ran himself into the ground.
