Cardiff City manager Russell Slade unsure about future

Football News 24/7

Monday 2nd May 2016

Manager Russell Slade is unsure of his future after Cardiff City missed out on the Championship play-offs.

The Bluebirds lost 3-0 at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, leaving them seven points adrift of the top six with one game left in the season.

Slade's current Cardiff contract expires at the end of the campaign.

Asked if he expects to be in charge next season, Slade told BBC Sport: "We'll see. At the end of the day, it will be the owners' decision."

Slade may have overseen an unlikely Championship play-off push, but the former Leyton Orient boss has not been accepted by some Cardiff fans.

He added: "It will probably be after the Birmingham game we'll sit down and decide what happens.

"We've made progress. It's my job, the team's job and the staff's job now to see if we can take that even further.

"We've made progress under difficult circumstances at times. We are going the right way.

"We had a bad day at the office today. We have to get over that. They always happen in football - it's how you respond and react.

"I still believed we could get in that top six today and take it to the last game. Anything could've happened, but it's not to be."

Slade says Cardiff's away form let them down in 2015-16.

Sorry but in my opinion he under achieved with the squad at his disposable

He didn't know what is best team was and couldn't get the best out of the players - so for me its :sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout:

At the start of the season Slade stated himself that Vincent Tan expected at least a play off place,he's failed to do that,he's also failed to win the fans over, so for me it's the sack.

there wasn't many Championship clubs that were not trading under 'difficult circumstances.' The club always had Tan's money which was still being spent despite a transfer embargo.

Unlike many other Championship clubs, we were embargoed for investing too much money into the playing squad. We had outspent our rivals massively over the last few seasons, we have the most expensive CB pairing in the league amongst other major investments still at the club alongside long term 'asssets' such as Marshall & Whitts.

I fail to see how all this affected Slade to the point he believes he manages Cardiff City under 'difficult circumstances.'

Tan wants long term stability and that will help Slade's case.

If Tan genuinely wants promotion that won't help Slade's case.

Then Tan will have to splash some cash which I doubt he will.

Fair play you are always a great read and you don't waffle on

Short answer is you have made an excellent point. It is true we as fans often don't think beyond the walls of CCS and what difficulties are at other clubs.

It's fair to say for now things are rosy at Burnley, Middlesbrough, Brighton, Derby and Sheffield W.

Hull are probably the exception to the top 6, meaning we are currently the best of the rest who for the main have their own difficulties.

cheers Tony  :ayatollah:

There has been a high volume of players leaving, I get how that can be be difficult for Slade, but it's fair to say a lot of the players who left were frozen out of the team anyway. He has brought in his own strikers and they have already departed.

Slade needs to stop feeling sorry for himself and making out Cardiff City is such a tough job in regards to getting good players on the pitch. He literally has had millions of pounds and wasted it. The marquee loan signing was a disaster.

Never once has Slade owned up to making a mistake in the Transfer Market or tactically. He even claimed Revell was signed because of his character and not his footballing ability when he flopped.

Same old Slade, never wants to admit to making a mistake :digging2: :bluescarf: :ayatollah:
