Police could consider banning orders for football fans filmed fighting at a service station - although no arrests were made.

Staffordshire Police were called to Norton Canes Services on the M6 Toll road on Saturday to reports of fighting between Everton and Manchester United fans - who were on their way Wembley to watch their teams play in the FA cup semi-final.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said no arrests were made - and the only reported injury was a man falling down the steps of the coach he was travelling on, who went on to the game anyway.

The spokesman said: "There had been reports of rival football fans fighting and with a considerable number of coaches arriving, safety concerns were also raised by the services management.

"Social media footage will possibly be viewed by our colleagues in Merseyside Police and Greater Manchester Police in order to identify those responsible for the incident.

"Anyone identified may be considered for a travel restriction order by their club for future away games.

"One fan did sustain cuts and bruises having fallen down the steps of a coach at Norton Canes . Despite minor injuries, the desire to see his team run out onto the pitch at Wembley was overwhelming and he continued his onward journey to London."

Manchester United asked all their official coaches to stop at Keele or Stafford services instead and police deployed units to motorway service stations throughout the county to reassure people.

The police spokesman added they felt their policing of an estimated 40,000 football fans had been a success - although they were concerned about the incident at Norton Canes.

The spokesman said: "Although only one football club could be victorious, Staffordshire Police consider their matchday to have passed off successfully with an estimated 40,000 supporters travelling by road through our county."

"Staffordshire Police are concerned though about the anti social behaviour that did occur at Norton Canes.
