A FAMILIAR OLD FACE AS SKIPPER

Wednesday’s captain will be afforded a rapturous ovation from the travelling Army of Bluebirds fans because he is a former terrace idol at Ninian Park.

Glenn Loovens was a classy centre-back for the Bluebirds during the Dave Jones era, making more than 100 appearances between 2005-08 before leaving for Celtic.

After four years in Scotland and a brief spell with Real Zaragoza in Spain, he joined Wednesday in 2013 and was named captain last season.

Will get a round of applause after the game from me but nothing else.

Was great for us whilst here but couldn't wait to get out of the club to join the Scottish pub league when if he's stayed a few seasons more he could have played in the Premier League with us.

Hope he trips over on Saturday allowing us to score the winning goal!
