How do we approach the Sheff Wed game?

Sun Apr 24, 2016 1:15 pm

Do we shut up shop and catch them on the break or do we adopt a more positive approach. Slade will take the first option but that would be playing into their hands. Let's hope the boys raise their game for this one. If they don't it's goodnight Vienna.

He just has to go for it. I just don't think he's capable of coming up with positive tCtics to put us on the front foot.

Surely even Slade can see that if we could get in front early that crowd will get very , tense, quiet and nervous.

hit them early and hit them hard - so the opposite of everything we usually do :D :D :D

We may be able to get away with playing a style more based on counter attacking, but by about half time if that hasn't worked we'll have to switch it anyway.

I think with the pressure being on Wednesday not to lose it, we've got to take the game to them! Especially, as some have already said on the forum, with their fans not bouncing with confidence, we need to get them shaking a bit.

I'd say opening 20 minutes at least throw everything we can at them! Anywhere near goal with half a yard of space in front, get a powerful shot in!

Agree with you guys. Hit em hard early on and get the crowd on their backs. We were two nil up against Weds at home so if we do get an early lead, we must keep it tight at the back.Come on Bluebirds.. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Go 3 up really early and keep a clean sheet.

Slade has to let them play with freedom like the Brighton game but try and sneak Zohore in the formation. Cardiff have got nothing to loose but all to win, so what the hell. Play 334. 4 upfont with
Lawrence(maybe)Immers Zohore Pilkington.
We need men in the box and that did not happen vs Bolton. However in real life you never know what Cardiff will do? Is it me or do they do shi* against the bad teams and good against the good teams?

The bottom line is we HAVE to score at least one goal. As we saw yesterday, even against a shit, ten man team we struggled to score. Like many other games, you feel that, late penalties aside, the longer the game goes on, we seem to run out of ideas and get less and less likely to score.
As others have said, we have to come out all guns blazing try and get in front then we can use Dikgacoi/Gunnar to break up thier play and frustrate them. The more they will then need to push for a goal the more likely we can catch them with a long ball.
In other words, do what other teams do to us.

If its 0 0 going into the last 20 minutes its going to be a bit more nervous. I would aim to keep things tight in the first half. Keep in the game then go for it more in the second

I think we need to go at them from the first whistle but with the exception of the Brighton game we've not really done that at all this season.

The first half performances against QPR, Brentford and Bolton have been absolutely dire. It's as if Slade has told them before the kick off to keep things as tight as possible for the first 45 minutes and then in the second half see if we can get a goal from somewhere.

The risk is that if we go a goal down we are really poor at breaking down a packed defence as shown against Leeds at home and particularly yesterday when against 10 men.

If we go a goal down next Saturday I just can't see us coming back and winning the game.

Play two strikers and go all out for the win. We HAVE to win there's no two ways about it!

I belive it if win this game then we'll make 6th and imo that would be a monumental success this season.

For me this is our absolute last chance. Why do what we have done all year - that's why we are where we are.

We have to go for the big one, throw all eggs into the basket. Id rather lose 5-4 giving it a go, than be happy to sit on a 0-0 and hope for a set piece!

Don't play 5 wingers and no strikers!

Quite right - now is not the time to change tactics. I just hope Immers is fit, as I think we missed him more on Saturday than most on here realise.

yes. kohore to start up front and immers in for pilkington would be my choice.

I really hope immers is fit for Saturday
would love to see immers and pilks just behind zohore
with a three man midfield
4 3 2 1 without the ball
4 3 3 with the ball
that front three defending from the front
the midfield three further up the pitch
and the back four defending like there life depended on it
Sheffield would not expect this formation
surprise surprise could just give us the edge
no more positioning too deep we must push up if we are going to win
see you all there

start like a F'IN train is what we need to do and take it to them early.. maybe let a few fans into the changing room to give the team talk.. I know I could get them going.. :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6:

Start 433 with Lawrence, zohore and pilks as a front three.

Whittingham, Ralls and O'Keele midfield.

Standard back four.

Hit em hard get two goals up.

Then sub Lawrence for Dikachoi and go 451

Zohore up top.

Pilks right. Whitts left. Ralls, Dikachoi and O'Keele central.

Standard back four.

Gunnar son to come on for whoever is tiring out of ralls, Dikachoi and o'Keefe around 70 minutes for fresh legs.

Same time Noone or Harris for Whittingham to help stretch the game a bit.

5 minutes later Saadi for Zohore with instructions to chase everything down from the front.

Job done
