" Have we progressed under Slade this season? "

Many posts have suggested that we have progressed this season under Slade so I thought it might be interesting to compare our average points per game from this season with last.

Of course you can always use statistics to prove anything you like, and I fully appreciate that progress should be measured in a number of ways. I think that the club itself has progressed greatly over the last season off the pitch but I'm not so sure if we have progressed on it as much as people might think.

Last season, Slade officially took over on 6th October with his first result in charge being a victory over Forest.

With Slade in charge the team played 35 League games and won 49 point, an average of 1.4 points per game.

Currently we have played 43 games this season and have 64 points, an average of 1.48 points per game.

Progression then this season but only by a tiny amount, not the leaps and bounds that some people would like to give Slade credit for.

Basically therefore, despite being in a higher position than last season, and despite the manager having had more than a season and a half in charge, we appear to be more stagnating than progressing.

If Slade stays in charge next season, surely we can only expect more of the same.

Only because trollope came in and stopped the long balls, The football was dire. Tactics slade dont have a clue. Sheffield wednesday have offered cardiff their play off place on a plate. We dropped points when we needed them most of all.

Yes we are on course to finish 7th or 6th when we finished 11th last season so yes progress. :ayatollah:

how do you measure progression? league position better than last season, football better generally, so yes guess we have progressed from last season!l but unfortunately slade leaves himself open to negativity due to unusual tactics & subs

we play mildly better football than when he first came but lets be honest it's not exactly entertaining , we played the best football under Jones , most effective football under Malky though it was a boring to watch but he was getting results (promoted) so can't really complain , Ole well he tried to play good football but wasted money and we were unbalanced, then we come to Slade his football is boring to watch , tactically inept (especially when opposition manager changes things around at HT), not consistant , he wont take the blame for results and looks to blame others ,he was still blaming Ole all last season , he picks thee players , his tactics , therefore it's his fault :sladeout: .

But we've progressed hardly at all as per my original post.

If we have a virtually identical average points per game this season as we did last season, yet we finish 7th this season whereas we finished 12th last season, all that shows is that 5 teams have been worse this season than they were last season!

That would tend to suggest that the division is weaker this season than it was last season, not that we've progressed this season, rather we have stood still.

People always say it's going to be the strongest championship then the weakest.

I think this season they have a point.

I still think we have progressed and with a good striker would've even more.
