" No Cardiff City players in top 15 "

Championship managers have selected their top 15 players for this season and not one Bluebird has made the list

Thursday 21st April 2016

Cardiff City have found themselves without any representation in the best 15 players in the Championship.

As Russell Slade’s side look to still make their play-off dream a reality, a poll of the managers in the second-tier has seen the Bluebirds’ current crop fail to make the grade.

The list is topped by the man named Championship Player of the Season recently, Burnley frontman, Andre Gray and, unsurprisingly, the cream of the Championship crop is dominated by players at clubs pushing at the top end of the table.

Middlesbrough lead the way with four on the list including inspirational midfielder, Grant leadbitter. Burnley and Hull have three players apiece and Brighton have two.

There is room though for former Cardiff striker Ross McCormack, who is now at Fulham. The striker, who made 91 appearances for the Bluebirds during his time in the Welsh capital, has fired 23 goals for the Cottagers so far this term.

The only other players who make the grade are Brentford’s Alan Judge who did not feature of his side’s defeat of the Bluebirds on Tuesday night after breaking his leg in a clash with Ipswich recently. The other name to feature is Sheffield Wednesday striker, Fernando Forestieri.

It is his side Cardiff manager Russell Slade and his men are desperately trying to catch now as they look to extend their season.

The Bluebirds are now seventh in the table, six points behind Wednesday with three games of the campaign left to play. Cardiff are looking to keep their slim play-off chances alive on Saturday when bottom of the table Bolton visit the Welsh capital for the penultimate home clash of the season.

1 Andre Gray (Burnley)
2 Ross McCormack (Fulham)
3 Alan Judge (Brentford)
4 Joey Barton (Burnley)
5 Fernando Forestieri (Sheffield Wednesday)
6 Dale Stephens (Brighton & Hove Albion)
7 Daniel Ayala (Middlesbrough)
8 Michael Dawson (Hull City)
9 Grant Leadbitter (Middlesbrough)
10 George Friend (Middlesbrough)
11 Andy Robertson (Hull City)
12 Adam Clayton (Middlesbrough)
13 Sam Clucas (Hull City)
14 Lewis Dunk (Brighton & Hove Albion)
15 Michael Keane (Burnley)
