Our left hand side and target play

Mon Apr 18, 2016 11:35 am

I ain’t a season ticket holder so don’t go to every game, but the games I have gone to, I’ve noticed something, whenever Malone / Whitts combine down the left hand side, neither of them try to whip a ball into the box to create a chance, it’s usually dilly-dallingly between them two or a pass to Pilkington who has no other option than to pass it to Noone on the right, then we have the same thing start again.

Why is it time and time again other teams seem to work the wings effectively and get balls into the box from crosses, frustrated to watch to say the least.

Because Pilkington isn't going to win a header against championship centre halfs.

If you remember the first half of the season most of our open play goals came from diagonal balls from Fabio, Malone or Whitts but that was to Kenwynne Jones. Nooney just can't cross accurately thats why we play him on the wrong wing.

The Pilkington, Immers partnership is about movement and overloads, teams are wise to it now.
