Huddersfield Town Under 21s continued their fantastic season with a 2-1 win over Cardiff City.
The Professional Development League II North winners were watched by first team head coach David Wagner at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Town team featured three trialists – goalkeeper George Dorrington (Manchester United), midfielder Victor Gulbrandsen (Ipswich) and winger Eusebio Bancessi (Wolves).
Dorrington made a string of important saves including a penalty stop, Eusebio looked bright and chipped in a goal while Guldbrandsen put in a shift in midfield.
Frankie Bunn’s men, through to the PDL II play-offs for the fourth season in a row, edged the first half in which both sides had chances.
Rekeil Pyke rose the highest from a Regan Booty free kick to head past the on-rushing Luke O’Reilly in goal.

Danny Kane kept the Terriers ahead as his brave block on the line, in which he collided with the post, denied Rhys Healey an equaliser.
Three minutes into the second half and Cardiff won a soft penalty, but trialist Dorrington saved brilliantly down to his right to deny Kadeem Harris.
Five minutes later and a peach of a cross from full back Jordan Williams was inch perfect for trialist Eusebio to head home to double the Terriers’ lead.
Cardiff had their chances to force their way back into the game and Harris bagged a goal when he cut inside from the edge of the box to curl past Dorrington and deny him a clean sheet.
The Welsh side continued to press but to no avail as Town held on to come out as winners.
