' RUSSELL SLADE NOT HAPPY AT ALL '

Russell Slade was left fuming after Cardiff were denied a late penalty in their goalless draw with QPR.

Russell Slade: Felt Cardiff should have had a penalty

Vital Cardiff

Sunday 17th April 2016

The Bluebirds failed to close the gap on the Sky Bet Championship play-off places after they were held at home.

But that was only after Cardiff were denied what Slade claimed was an "obvious" penalty in the 86th minute when Anthony Pilkington went down under the challenge of Grant Hall.

Referee Stephen Martin waved away furious protests from the Cardiff players and after the game Slade said: "I thought we thoroughly deserved to win.

"There was one great save, a couple of near-misses and an unbelievable penalty shout when he [Pilkington] was wrestled to the ground. It was incredible that we didn't get that.

"I don't usually moan because these decisions even themselves out over the season, but I get upset when you don't get such an obvious decision."

Sean Morrison had a header well saved while Kenneth Zohore saw his late effort cleared off the line as Cardiff were left frustrated.

The goalless draw means they are still five points behind Sheffield Wednesday in the final play-off spot but this was an opportunity missed.

Slade added: "We've said we have to match their [Wednesday's] result and we've done that.

"In one way, we may see that as an opportunity where we lost two points but we're still in there and still fighting.

"We go to Brentford next and need a positive result and we probably need to win all four of our remaining games. It's a big ask but it's not impossible."

Not sure if you realise this Russ but if we "match their results" we'll end the season five points behind Sheffield Wednesday and out of the play-offs!

Even if we beat them and match all their other results we'll end up behind them.

1 point from the last 6 available against two poor teams when we're the club chasing is a completely wasted opportunity.

He meant match yesterday's result. The hope then is that Wednesday will drop points on Saturday v Derby and we will need to win at Wednesday. A big ask but as he says, not impossible yet.

It's not impossible, but unlikely. We had fantastic opportunity over the last two games, especially given Sheffield Weds results, with no real pressure on us against poor teams and we have still blown it, why anyone believes we have any chance of now closing the gap is just pie in the sky. I will still be at Brentford though, hoping for a miracle  :bluescarf:

Stupid comment after the amount of opportunities we have had the last few weeks to gain on them.

I'm not happy either never mind the results, the football served up is tedious and uninspiring

The man is out of his depth. How he can come up with those sort of comments?

He got his team selection wrong again, got his subs wrong again and blames the ref for the failings of his team and himself.

God help us if this buffoon is our manager next season.

His comments about the 'penalty' that never was is a classic diversionary tactic all managers use. Warren Feeney was blaming County's training facilities last week to divert attention away from 6 straight losses.

Slade is hampered by not having a decent striker and that will be the reason why we fall short of the play-offs.

As was playing much of the first half of the season with a powder puff central midfield, 4-4-2, baffling substitutions, and a lazy no 9.

Unfortunately due to cost cutting Slade had to use what was at his disposal. I accept some of his substitutions are baffling but you have to view the job done over all, not just on one specific thing.

Finally considering in your opinion we had such a poor first half of a season then we must of had a tremendous second half to finish 7th :?
