TEAM NEWS :bluebird: 18/04/16

Cardiff striker Kenneth Zohore may get his first start as the Bluebirds seek to keep their play-off hopes alive.

Zohore joined Cardiff on loan from Belgian side KV Kortrijk in January and has made eight appearances as a substitute.

The Dane has impressed in a couple of those cameos and almost broke the deadlock in Saturday's goalless draw against QPR.

Aron Gunnarsson will deputise if midfielder Peter Whittingham is rested, while Ben Turner will be in the matchday squad again after returning to the bench on Saturday

Bruno Ecuele-Manga will miss his second consecutive match after suffering from a virus while Fabio Da Silva will remain out with a groin injury. Ben Turner has now been passed as match fit and will remain in the squad for the trip to Brentford.

Brentford Football Club is a professional football club based in Brentford, in the London Borough of Hounslow, that currently plays in the Football League Championship. It was founded on 10 October 1889 and plays its home games at Griffin Park, its home stadium since 1904, after a nomadic existence playing at five previous grounds. Brentford's most successful spell came during the 1930s, when it achieved consecutive top six finishes in the First Division. Since the Second World War, it has spent most of its time in the third and fourth tiers of English football. Brentford has been FA Cup quarter-finalists on four occasions, and has three times been Football League Trophy runners-up.

Key facts

Club: Brentford FC
Opening: 1904
Capacity: 12,763 seats

History and description

Griffin Park was built in 1904, though initially consisted of nothing more than a small single stand. Previously, Brentford had played at five different locations before leasing the new site in the west of London. The first match at the ground was a league match between Brentford and Plymouth.

In the late 1920s, a new main stand was built followed by further gradual improvements on the other stands in subsequent decades, but overall Griffin Park remained a rather modest affair.

The rise of Brentford to the Championship in 2014 made further improvements necessary, but significant expansions have remained impossible due to the stadium being enclosed by residential housing.

The club has therefore been working on building a brand new stadium, and in 2015 secured planning permission for a new 20,000 capacity ground at less than a mile east of Griffin Park, which it hopes to move into in 2017.

Think a lot of fans post the score they hope it will be rather than the score they really think it will be. Some crazy forecasts for the QPR game like three and four nil. Where are we going to get four goals from. Only one or two of us went for the draw, and as someone else stated, this was almost a nailed on draw and would have been a lot of peoples banker for the pools.

Bluebirds head to West London tonight looking to stop a run of three games without a win.

City need to close the gap on Sheffield Wednesday to have a hopw of catching the Owls and claiming 6th place. Cardiff are the outsiders to make the top six but it' not impossible yet, with City having to face Wednesday on Saturday week.

First though a repeat of last season's result at Griffin Park would be most wecome. City won 2 - 1 thanks to a stunning winner from Alex Revell (below).
