" VINCENT TAN & RUSSELL SLADE "

Steve Tucker: People say you will get a new deal because of your good relationship with Vincent Tan. What’s the secret?

Russell Slade:It’s about communication and honesty.

I tell him my views and he tells me his. He always wants what is best for the club.

Maybe it is more difficult because he is not here a lot and does not see the players on a daily basis. But the dialogue is very good.

Steve Tucker: What do you make of reports saying you are getting a new contract?

Russell Slade:It was news to me. Look, my focus is obviously on getting in the top six.

The relationship is strong, we will sit down at the end of the season and see where we are going, but things will remain private between the two parties.

There’s no contract on the table at this moment in time, but I would love to stay at the club, everybody is aware of that.

Of course, along with that, I want to ensure we get a top-six finish.

Steve Tucker: Do you have unfinished business at Cardiff in your opinion?

Russell Slade: I see it like this, there’s a lot of work been done to almost try to rebuild this club if you like.

There’s been a lot of good work that me and the staff have put in and I want to see that continue.

I believe things are going in the right direction now. It’s taken time, I’m the first to admit that, but things can’t be done overnight.

We are in a position, I believe, where we can move forward again and improve further on and off the field.

The important thing at a club is to maximise everything. Max things out, I did that at my last club.

Do I think Cardiff are in that place yet? No, but I think we are a lot closer than we were 18 months ago. But there is definitely more work to be done.
