Russell Slade: I do feel I deserve a new deal

Here’s Slade’s reaction to the news he is in line for a new deal:

It was news to me. Look, my focus is on getting in top six. The relationship is strong, we will sit down at end of season and see where we are going, but things will remain private. No contract at this time, but would love to stay they are all aware. But would also love a top six finish.
Do you deserve contract?

That’s up to owner chairman and directors to decide if done enough. It’s been a difficult season. We have remained competitive to our credit. We have all pushed in the right direction and we still have an opportunity.

I do feel I deserve a new deal as it’s been a difficult season. Fans are now seeing how troubled it has been at times, but we have come through and been competitive and played a brand of football that is getting us up the table.

Maybe you don't go to very many games, those that go to every game like myself are now getting right behind Slade and we can see the team improving month after month

I go to loads of games all I see is inconsistancy

and somebody needs to explain to me why

left footed wingers who cannot cross a ball with their right foot playing on the right wing and visa versa

So they can cut inside and take a shot? Theres no right footed wingers playing on the left though, it's always Whitts or Ralls on the left and both are left footed?

Also its so easy to defend against , its much harder to defend crosses from the byline which explains why we score a lot of goals from corners

Lawrence usually starts in place of Noone on the right, if you look back though games we have played more than 90% of the time Whitts or Ralls start on the left.

I wouldn't bother to argue with people who want slade out I have giving up its their view I certainly do not agree with it.

We all have our opinions and thats the beauty of debate, all will be revealed in time.

Based on Slade being brought in to steady the ship and get rid of the deadwood, he has exceeded expectations and deserves a new Contract. We still have a slim chance of a top 6 finish, and if he gets us promoted I think I would prefer a prem manager but it would be unfair not to give him the chance.

Either way Silly season is going to be a crazy affair this year with the Euros as well....
