Cardiff City are looking to launch a bid to bring Feyenoord midfielder Lex Immers, who is at the club on loan until the end of the season, in on a permanent basis.
Immers, who is already 29-years-of-age, has provided an unexpected spark this season for Cardiff since arriving from the Dutch Eredivisie, and has kept the Bluebirds in with an outside chance of reaching the Play-Offs.
Whilst it looks unlikely that the top six will change before the curtain closes on the season in five games time, if City do cut the five point gap between themselves and sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday, and win the Play-Offs against the odds, then they will need to attract the likes of Immers if they are to stand any chance of survival.
While promotion looks unlikely, bringing the popular Immers back for next season will certainly not harm their chances – the striker certainly knows where the net is, having scored 31 goals during his time at Feyernoord, and five goals during his time at Cardiff.
The Welsh outfit face Queens Park Rangers at the Cardiff City Stadium in their next Sky Bet Championship match, in a match Slade’s side must win if they are to have any hope of a play-off spot.
