He was among a huge number of footballers, directors and managers who used a film investment tax avoidance/evasion scheme, which has now been found unlawful. Some people who used the scheme face bankruptcy. Don't Know how much Mr Bellamy was in for, he opened the scheme on the day he signed for Celtic.

if this is true, I'm sure he will be made to pay it back. Nothing illegal about offshore banking it's just immoral.

It was a scheme set up by Gordon Brown where investors got tax breaks to invest in British films, in reality the funds were invested in big American franchises like Disney. The whole thing was a massive con and hundreds of football people piled in, HMRC have been working on this for years and a lot of investors face making huge repayments. Believe Alex Ferguson was up to his armpits in it as well.

In this case hasn't this ruling basically said that it IS illegal?
Whereas it was just Tax Avoidance the scheme is now deemed tax evasion.

The scheme was set up to help the British Film Industry, Disney is not a Britiah Company, the scheme was abused by slick accountants to benefit there clients.

Yes can't see them having to pay anything back as at the time it was legal they might try but I feel it won't amount to anything
