WILL BEN TURNER GET A NEW DEAL?
Cardiff City defender Ben Turner has had a miserable season
Big Ben Turner played 70 minutes for the Development side on Monday, but chances are that he will not play for the senior side between now and the end of the season.
Barring injury, Manga, Morrison and Connolly are all currently ahead of him in the pecking order. So the question is whether the towering centre back has already played his last game for the club.
Turner has not played for Cardiff in almost a year, his last start being the final game of last season.
He started four consecutive games for Coventry earlier in the season before limping off early in the fifth. The 28-year-old has been a fantastic servant for the club, but his days may now be numbered.
His prospects may receive a boost if Cardiff are planning to cash in on Manga during the summer, but Cardiff may still look elsewhere for a replacement. If he does depart, I for one will be sad to see him go.

No def not injury prone

No time to move on for him

Yeah perhaps a 12mth contract especially if Manga may leave.

He is injury prone, but I'd give him a one-year contract. If he's playing again now, then a rest and a good pre-season should stand him in good stead. Ben has proved himself at this level.

Depends on who's staying next year but on ability yes don't think he's any different too morrison.
If the purse strings are tight then he has to go just doesn't play enough.

Yes - a good centre back.

NO - we have 3 CB's already, his injuries have been so serious that we may lose points while he gets up to speed + there is the possibility he is not as strong as he once was/recurring injury concern. That is a risk not worth taking.
He should look to build his career elsewhere now. I wish him the very best and hope he gets back to playing like he did for us before the terrible injuries

Yes , him and Manga the best combo for me

NO definitely not he's a liability & a donkey

Have a soft spot for him especially thinking back to that last minute equalizer against Liverpool at Wembley which nearly brought us the League Cup
However, he is so injury prone that it is hard to make a case to keep his services. We also have a couple of good young CB's in the development side and rather than send them out on loan I would like to them blooded into the team and at the same time save some money.

No point keeping him just to lay on the treatment table.

The last 2 seasons he hasnt played much for us ,has been injured most of the time.Time to go .

As much as I like him. Don't think he should be renewed unless manga goes but would only offer 12 month reduced contract as would like to see semi given chance
Wed Apr 13, 2016 11:11 am
Offer a 12 month contract on reduced terms. If he thinks he can get better then let him leave.
Big fan of Turner and I feel he's worth another contract to atleast try to get fit.

Yes I would.Defenders like him don't grow on trees and we may not be able to hold onto Manga if we don't get promoted this season. And just what do people think we'd have to pay to replace him like for like? Too soon to give up on him just yet.

Some harsh bastards on here!! Turner is a very good championship CB and I would definitely keep. He's been very unlucky with injuries. Sometimes it goes like that. It doesn't mean that he's going to be injury prone in the future. I like his attitude and his commitment and look forward to his return.

No as i believe he will be asking for to much money. Bring through the likes of Blaise and Oshilaja as cover for Manga, Connolly and Morro
Wed Apr 13, 2016 9:37 pm
Yes, but only if wages are not high. He is excellent back up to Manga, Morrison and Connolly but depends if he's happy as a squad player
Wed Apr 13, 2016 9:37 pm
I would give him another 12 month contract he not a skillful player but strong and will fight for the team
Wed Apr 13, 2016 11:04 pm
Absolutely not. How many games has he actually played for us since we got relegated?
Thu Apr 14, 2016 9:40 am
i wouldnt, but we are also likely to lose Manga in the summer, so will need to bring someone in
Thu Apr 14, 2016 1:01 pm
It would all depend on his wage, a lower wage with a playing incentive I would say yes.
In saying that we have a lot of options as Oshilaja surely must be pushing his way through.

I can't imagine his wages are massive, and I personally think he's far better defensively than Morrison, and probably Connolly. No coincidence that he started nearly every game while Malky was here, including when we walked the league with a team based on defence.
Been waiting a long time to see him alongside Manga, would be gutted if it never happened.

Very good defender sad to see him go.
Thu Apr 14, 2016 5:38 pm
A good championship defender if you like hoof ball but he has missed a lot of time through long term injuries.
If we wanted to keep him his contract would have been sorted long ago as he is in his last few months.
Time to move him on try out some of the younger players we have in under 21s, otherwise its pointless developing them.
Good luck to him in his future as he is a decent player to have.

What's the betting he moves clubs and the injuries are behind him, seen it so many times.
