Who will be Cardiff’s Player of the Year?
By Scott Johnson
Tuesday 12th April 2016
Anthony Pilkington looked set to press a late claim for end-of-season honours recently with some fine performances filling in up front, but has form has since dipped slightly.
Chances are that the recipient will be one of Joe Ralls, Matthew Connolly or David Marshall.
Joe Ralls has been at the heart of Cardiff City's midfield
It just so happens that this trio also lead the way in terms of minutes played. Joe Ralls has played 3493 minutes, just ahead of Matthew Connolly with 3376, while Marshall has 3101.
Scotland’s number one has served two suspensions for a couple of red cards, one of which was in the final game of last season and carried over.
Marshall has been as good as we have all come to expect but I think that the prize will be won by either Ralls or Connolly.
Both have been revelations, as chances are most people ahead of the current campaign wouldn’t have expected either to prove so influential. Connolly has benefitted from injuries to both Sean Morrison and Bruno Ecuele Manga, yet kept his place on merit.
Matt Connolly
Unfortunately, the tables have now turned and they have both in turn benefitted from a recent Connolly absence.
Having impressed in recent weeks, chances are that Connolly may be behind Manga and Morrison once more, with a watching brief for the rest of the season.
That leaves Ralls, who would be a worthy winner. The driving force in the heart of midfield and equally adept stationed on the left. He leads the way in assists with seven, tied with Peter Whittingham, and has already earned a bumper long-term deal.
This accolade would cap off a fantastic season for him.

Ralls for me.

Based purely on the past couple of months, Lex Immers just has to get a mention...
Based on possibly half of the season, Stuart O'Keefe would be a good shout.
Expanding to cover the full season, the 2 that have stood out to me the most are
Bruno Manga &
Joe Ralls

I wouldn't be against peltier winning it. Very consistent and excellent defender who knows his limitations. Can't remember him having a bad game all season. Ralls and Connolly also possibly.
