' Sticking with the back four against Fulham '

Monday 11th April 2016

By Phil Smith

To have two players with as much quality as Fabio and Matthew Connolly on the bench seems a waste, but Slade's back four had been superb against Derby and Burnley and deserved another chance to start.

They were excellent in the first half, too, with Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele flickering but ultimately frustrated.

Lee Peltier continues to impress, determined in defence. Scott Malone enjoyed a decent day, whipping in some decent crosses and always trying to make something happen.

All four struggled a touch in the closing stages, however, probably a consequence of a massive mental and physical effort over a short period.

VERDICT: All four deserved their place, even if it is difficult to exclude Cardiff's player of the season in Connolly

Malone has no end product sadly he gets into great positions but his crossing is poor
IMO he has a bad game when he has whitts in front him
For the life of me I can't see why slade changed the team from the burnley game other than the enforced change due to pilks being injured
