HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle says the club need to act as strongly as they can if any Bulls fans caused trouble at Alvechurch.

The match at Lye Meadow was halted shortly before the end after Alvechurch missed a penalty through Jordan Nadat.

Supporters were seen squaring up to each other between where a segregated barrier had been placed.

Hereford Times:

It was reported that a fence was hurled by one fan, with stewards and police called to calm things down.

The match then resumed and Hereford held on for a 2-1 win that takes them to the summit of the Midland Football League Premier Division.

"After all the hard work the club and board of directors are doing off the pitch and what the loyal supporters have done every week by following us home and away in massive numbers, they're tarnishing it," said Beadle.

"That is just not acceptable and if we find out they are Hereford fans, then the club needs to act as strongly as they can because we don't want them here - I don't want them here.

"It ruins all the work my players have put into this season.

"People will go away, I would like to think, saying what a fantastic game - two great sides who left it out there on the pitch, but I've got a funny feeling they'll be a lot of talk about what happened on the far side, which takes away the credit from the players that have played and put on, for me a fantastic performance."

A fan attacked players with a corner flag during a mass brawl at the end of a non-league football match between Coventry United and Nuneaton Griff last night.

Players, supporters and coaching staff were all reported to have been involved as punches were thrown when a handful of fans invaded the pitch as the final whistle was blown.

The encounter always promised to be fiercely competitive with the local rivals sitting in second and third place in Midlands Division One.

Temperatures rose as Coventry United came from behind at Sphinx Drive to win 3-2 via a penalty in the second minute of stoppage time at the end of the game.

David Deakin, BBC Coventry and Warwickshire’s non-league correspondent, was covering the match as the trouble unfolded.

The broadcaster said he was concerned someone could have been seriously injured as fists flew.

He said: “Coventry United supporters ran on the pitch and there were a couple of punches thrown at the Griff centre-half.

“The Cov United players then went in to defend the fan. There were about 20 fans on the pitch to begin with.

“One fan had a corner flag in his hands and was swinging it at players.

“The coaches and subs sprinted from the dug out to act as peacemakers but then other people got involved. There were a few punches being thrown and the coaches were on the receiving end of a few.
