Yes agreed, a good effort, but I have always considered Huddersfield to be a similar sized club to us, they had a far better ground than us for years and were getting bigger crowds than us because of it.
I think it tells us that clubs are now realising and coming to terms with the fact that football has become way overpriced. Our own club is doing so also, thank God

Clubs are finally realising they have been ripping fans off.
Yes Huddersfield's old ground use to remind me off Ninian Park.
As to fan base, their fans just come from Huddersfield and they have clubs all around them, whilst City have the whole of South Wales.

A much smaller club than us? Are they? Realy? based on....?

Crowds?

Over the last 25 years our average home attendances are neck and neck, there is about 700 in it in our favour, largely due to the increase in our crowds from the 'Golden Ticket' and Premiership season.

This season we are averaging 2,000 more at home than they are, this has been boosted by two big crowds from free ticket giveaways last two games.

Result - pretty even just edged in our favour.

Catchment Area.

Personaly do not think this defines the size of a 'Club'. Huddersfield is no small town place, its the 11th largest town in England with a population roughly the same size as Sunderland who are a bigger club than us by far.

History

Huddersfield's history is far superior to ours. They have won the first division 3 times. Won the FA Cup and been runners up 4 times. Their honours list far outweighs ours.

Stadium

Up until we had the new stand put on both grounds were of similar size.

To say that Huddersfield are a much smaller club than Cardiff is bonkers in the extreme, there is not a shred of evidence to suggest that.

Ok then the real point is if Huddersfield can sell 15,000 season tickets, then City should sell at least 25,000.

Cardiff has 1million people with in a 30 mile radius and no other club than Newport County to compete with.
Huddersfield have 20 clubs to compete with incl Many Premier Clubs in a 30 mile radius.
City's fan base comes from a 50 mile radius, where as Huddersfield's comes from virtually Huddersfield.

I'm sure we would sell a minimum of 25,000 if our club offered season tickets for £179! :o

I agree with you. Our attendances are very similar, and history shows that Huddersfield have had far more success than us. I remember as a youngster in the early 70's, Huddersfield were probably classed as a bigger outfit than us, and were in the top division at that time. I have always thought of teams like Huddersfield, Coventry, Birmingham etc. as being mid size clubs just like us. I still think some fans think that we are far bigger than we actually are, and supporters of the genuine big clubs look on us as being an average size club that have had very limited success over the years.

I do, within 7 games you have made your money back. A percentage of our fans just want to watch the odd game when they feel like. These fans don't want to shell out over £400 for a season ticket, it isn't value for money to them.

I think every 'fairweather' fan would snap that offer up and we would get a lot of new fans around the area snapping that deal up too.

A lot of fans can't afford a season ticket, they have to pick and choose games because of financial circumstances. I honestly think you would be surprised how many fans would buy a season ticket if it was offered for just £179.

Think of the extra families, think of the fathers who want to take their sons to games, but can't currently afford to. An offer like that would encourage parents to make an effort and treat their kids to a season ticket.

You mention our catchment area, an offer like this would attract hundreds of extra families, then you have the peer pressure of the kids friends wanting to go to games too, so their parents fork out for a season ticket as well and then the positive knock on effect continues.

Well done to Huddersfield looking after their fans, I'm sure the fans and the club itself will benefit from it.

A Liverpool fan came up to me today to tell me about his free tickets in the new red stand and took 3 kids with him and they loved it. They said they were Just above the derby fans giving it banter.

Brilliant from the club. Seems at last they rekajsed what we seen last season.
