It's important to remember after 45 games we need ...

Tue Apr 05, 2016 9:09 pm

To either be one point infront of Derby and win our final game or probably more importantly:

We need to be within 2 points of Wednesday and then go there and win, so even though tonight we are 5 points behind them, if we can gain 3 points on them in the next 5 games then the playoffs are in our hands, not losing tonight is a massive result in this regard

Plus Derby and Wednesday play each other. I think we are at home to Bolton that day. :thumbright:

A win on Saturday and we could be within 1 or 2
Points of the play offs again

We are by no means out of it especially the way the team are playing and the spirit within
The squad

When we play Bolton home, one of the two teams above us has to drop points

If we beat Wednesday the last game of the season we gain 3 points

We have in recent times battered 3rd in the league, comfortably beaten 6th, draw away with 1st

We are the form team, we keep playing like we are then there is no reason with big crowds home and away and positive support that we cannot make the playoffs

Russell Slade said at the weekend he believes the Bluebirds need four more wins to earn a shot at the Premier League.

Cardiff were unable to chalk off one of those victories at Burnley – but this draw may be as important as one.

Granted, results elsewhere weren't as favourable as they might have been – Sheffield Wednesday and Derby both winning – but not many would have truly fancied Cardiff to pick up anything against a side who have been nigh-on steamrollering their way to automatic promotion before only very recently.

And yet not only did Cardiff grab a draw, it was deserved in every sense. Indeed, had the ball dropped just an inch or two lower in a couple of late chances, only the most ardent Claret could have complained that the Bluebirds didn't deserve a maximum.

Of course, at this stage of the season it is the points in the final column that are the be-all and end-all, yet do not under-estimate the psychological significance of this.

Before this game, Burnley were the league's top scorers and had picked more points up at home than any other side in the division.

Here they were not only denied a win their fans craved as they look to return to the top-flight, but they were kept out and stopped from scoring in front of the Turf Moore faithful for only the second time since the turn of the year.

I just built a championship predictor on excel and filled it out, and in my opinion, it'll take 4 wins and a draw from here, which I think we are capable of :)

I think Derby's last 3 games of Sheffield Wednesday home, Brighton away, Ipswich home could help us a bit :)

I just can't see us making the play offs sadly, I have been saying the same all season and that Slade has vastly exceeded my expectations, he's done a cracking job.

I didn't expect us to be in with a fighting chance with only 6 games to go and I won't be angry if we don't make it. Credit to Slade and the boys, wherever we end up this season we have had a good season in that many people including myself on here agreed that we would be in mid table obscurity this season.
