Tom Lawrence: Ranieri doesn’t give young players a chance

Tom Lawrence has criticized Claudio Ranieri for not giving young players a chance and says he has “no regrets” as his parent club Leicester City surge towards Premier League glory.

Cardiff’s loanee winger has spoken out against parent club manager Claudio Ranieri claiming that the Italian “doesn’t give young players a chance”, according to The Sun’s Phil Cadden. Leicester’s most used starting XI this season has an average age of 28.1 which is six years older than Lawrence who is 22.

Leicester continue to gather momentum in the Premier League as their win over Southampton on the weekend sent them seven points clear at the top and they look sure to take the Premier League crown. Despite the potential opportunity of being involved in a title chase, Lawrence says he has “no regrets” at missing the Fox’s table-topping adventure.

Lawrence has spent the entirety of this season out on loan with a loan spell at Blackburn which begun in August and a loan spell from January until the end of the season with Cardiff. The former Manchester United winger is still hopeful of making the Wales 23-man squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 campaign having made four appearances for his country.

Twenty-two year old Lawrence has played nine times since joining Russell Slade’s men in January but he is yet to register a goal for the Bluebirds. Lawrence’s contract with Leicester runs until 2018 but he seems to have done himself no favours by offering criticism to boss Ranieri.

He is not good enough to get on the Leicester bench at the moment, needs to prove himself and be consistent with it.

I've enjoyed watching Lawrence playing for us, but he needs to keep quiet and concentrate on his game. Ranieri's managed some big names, he's no fool and won't take kindly this sort of criticism.

Keep quiet Lawrence it's not as if they're struggling

Sadly for Tom, the game is only an 11 player sport. It was his choice to join a PL club that has plenty of options

Didn't Ranieri bring on Demarai Gray on Sunday? I've not seen anything from Tom Lawrence that suggests to me he's Premier League quality. He's got the potential but that means nothing without the application. Worryingly, he seems more keen to point the finger of blame elsewhere rather than at himself.

He's gonna win the league with a core 11 players, shhh now Tom.

Pfft they're about to win the f*cking prem. I doubt anyone at the club cares about the young players right now.

Tom Lawrence at 22 is hardly a young player in football terms whilst Ranieri brought on Gray - not for the first time - who is 19.
I like Lawrence, but he's hardly top Prem material.

You hit the nail on the head  Lawrence is not a kid any more but a man and should start acting like one.

Two thoughts on this.

Firstly it's a little silly of Tom to criticise given where Leicester are and what they've achieved.

Secondly, delighted though he has said it as perhaps it can open up some dialogue about him signing for us in the Summer providing we get our embargo lifted.

I think he's been a super player for us and would be happy for him to sign.

I think he can get better.

Bit silly of him to criticise Ranieri, one of the most loved managers atm.

Is he deliberately trying to break off with leicester in pursuit of a permanent move to Cardiff?

That will come back to bite him.

Why alienate your manager ? He'll be looking for anew club this summer.

I may be wrong here but it sounds like he's been asked if he's any regrets and said no as he wasn't going to get a chance at Leicester this season. Fair enough. There are no direct quotes here and it is reportedly from a Sun journalist, so I doubt very much that Tom has said a word out of place.

Exactly....if it's the Sun, then he's probably been misquoted throughout this.
