' Lex Immers Interview "Its impossible to Stay" '

Do you want to stay at Cardiff?

Immers “I want to stay but at the moment it’s impossible because of the transfer embargo, so I have to wait and see. I like the City, the players, the staff, the manager, everybody. I get confidence here and my family is happy here, which is important.”





The manager said you had been willing to learn new things since you came here, so what have you learnt?

Immers “The football here is very different, it is very tactical. In the first few weeks I needed to learn the formation and the tactics, the tempo. That was the first few weeks but I learnt quick and I picked up very quick, that was what the gaffer said. That’s the reason I played after two weeks.”

Do you feel happy at Cardiff City?

Immers “I feel settled, I feel confident. The people are nice here, everybody wants to help me. I have a lot of confidence in the club and the gaffer. I feel happy.”





You’ve hit the ground running and already got an impressive scoring record, so what’s been the key?

Immers “Always being sharp in front of the goal, always watching for the second balls coming back from the goal. I think they key word is confidence, when you feel confident you’re going to play better and better.”

What about that photo of you with a Swansea flag at Wembley?

“Ah, my home town is Den Haag. The supporters are friends with Swansea supporters. My friend, Dorus de Vries, we had the same agent. He came to us and said you can come to watch a match at Wembley!

I see some supporters outside from Den Haag who wanted a picture. It’s nothing big.

You’re already a Cardiff fans favourite like at your previous clubs, why do you think that is?


Immers “Its my character. I’m talking to everybody, I’m nice to everybody, to supporters, to youngsters. And also the way I play, I’m working hard on the field to try and recover the ball. I’m working very hard for my team-mates.

Can you make the play-offs?

Immers “Yes, yes. We have very good individual players and as a team we are also very strong. You see what we did in the last two or three matches, the last ten matches, we’ve got a lot of points.

I think we can make the play-offs. I think we were nine points off the play-offs when I came? So yeah...






What are the best strengths of this Cardiff squad?

Emmers “There is a really good spirit in the squad, we can find each other on the pitch, like the Dutch. The likes of Peter Whittingham and Anthony Pilkington, they are really good individual players. We also have good internationals, like David Marshall. Those kind of players have already made history, so with them we can make the play-offs.”

We have to sign him in the summer if the embargo is gone! These are the type of players fans want to see at Cardiff and can get behind. Hard working, honest and goal scoring!

The accounts published in March were those for 2014/2015 season that led to the imposition of the embargo in the first place. My understanding is that he lifting of the embargo will depend on the League's reaction to interim financial information relating to the current season which we are due to submit to them about now. I f that shows we are on track to comply with the FFP rules this year the embargo will be lifted in time for the summer window . If not we will be stuck with it.
