Cardiff City

Ben Hoskins Well Red: Colour-chart enthusiast Vincent Tan

Silverware drought: Championship winners 2013

Low point: Tan’s red rebranding of the club

Near misses: FA Cup runners-up 2008

Relegations since 1992: 3

Promotions: 5

Trophies won since 1992: 3

It would be easy to be swayed by Vincent Tan’s fun and games in rebranding the Bluebirds and bringing about a number of unfavourable headlines, but the Cardiff fans haven’t had it too bad in the previous 24 years. Back when the Premier League was born in 1992, they were languishing in the fourth tier, having not been anywhere near any silverware that wasn’t the Welsh Cup for a generation. Steady progress was boosted by Tan’s wealth as the club returned to the top flight for the first time in more than 50 years in 2013, while they came close to repeating their 1927 trick of bring the FA Cup out of England when they reached the final in 2008. With the only real misery being brought about by Tan’s off-the-pitch antics, Bluebird fans have had it good in recent times.

They forget to mention the man who saw the potential in a knackered club and got us to that fa cup final.
You may love him or hate him but the simple fact is that there would not be a cardiff city now if it wasnt for sam hammam

The Rebrand of the club will never be forgotten, and unlikely be forgiven for many Cardiff City fans, but the good Tan has done for the club far outweighs the bad.

By all means credit the man for seeing the potential and rescuing our knackered club, but don't re write history he was long gone when we got to the cup final. I'm surprised they papered over the league cup final achievement though.

Sam was ousted late 2006 around 18 months before the FA Cup Final. True he wasn't at the helm on the 17 May 2008 but it was mainly the team he helped to build including one Aaron Ramsey a product of the Hammam funded academy.
