The upcoming Derby game reminds me of the 4-1 win over Derby in 2011. I had a £5 bet at 80/1 on Cardiff to win 4-1 and Jay Bothroyd to score first. The bet was nearly scuppered when the City were awarded a penalty after 5 minutes. But for some reason or another, Bothroyd was given the penalty to take even though Whitts was playing. Derby were awful. Cardiff 4-0 with 5 minutes to go and the Derby number 9 misses an open goal from 2 yards out. It's not my day!
Then, 2 minutes into injury time , Stephen McPhail clumsily brings someone down in the box. Robbie Savage coolly puts away the spot kick, and there is one bloke jumping up and down in the middle of the Ninian stand like a lunatic!

i was there we was all giving savage stick for how bad he wanted that penalty against us

I had city to win 4-0 was gutted when he scored penalty lost out on £40 if we had won.

I always had respect for him for that. He'd been given shit all night cos we hammered them but he still stepped up and banged in the pen. He just walked away with a big smile on his face

On that day he was the best player on the pitch in a team that got stuffed 4-1.
