I also remember going to Newcastle with Cardiff about 1980 and there home crowd was about 14,000 in the old division 2
Also Newcastle only brought 200 fans to us.

thers always been a myth about newcastles support hotbed of football going by that photo it wasn't .dislike Newcastle third rate football team

My first ever home game was v Geordies in 81. Crowd was 4500. Hardly any away fans although in fairness it was on a Tuesday night.

Went there twice early 80s lost both times we lost 2-1..... Great trip with adar glass starting from the porth hotel at midnight friday night arriving in newcastle 6.30am saturday. Then a long mouch about in newcastle :laughing6:

I was on the AdarGlas coach when we lost 2-1. There ground was virtually empty. I rem arriving early Sat morning.
We took about 150 fans.

Gareth,thats when they brought less than 200 fans.

Yes around 150 fans including roy daniels, i can remember there was some kind of infirmary behind the away end in that corner not sure if peter kitchen scored in one of the games. We went in that magpie pub always remember dai ton with his snuff box :old:

It wasn't just them, I think we probably averaged around 8k in those days (early 80s) Another myth is the huge European club from London:

Football was on its knees in the 80s.poor crowds all over country .stadiums falling apart.crowd trouble every week.theres plenty wrong with "modern" but it definitely attracts a much bigger audience.

Newcastle are fekked till Ashley goes. And that's not going to happen anytime soon.
