" BREAKING: Brendan Rodgers To Return To The Premier Leauge "

Just as one former Liverpool manager was taking all the headlines for his side's performance in Germany another one was stealing the headlines away as the news breaks that Brendand Rodgers will return to the Premier League next season.

Rodgers was sacked as manager at Anfield earlier this season after a poor end to last season followed into a very average beginning to this season. Rodgers was replaced by Jurgen Klopp and has yet to get back into management despite getting numerous offers.

A report in the Daily Express tonight says that Rodgers will return to former club Swansea as manager for the beginning of the 2016/17 season.

The Northern Irishman was manager at the Liberty Stadium for two seasons, leading them into the Premier League, before leaving to join Liverpool where he nearly led them to the title.

Rodgers had been made favourite to take over Roy Hodgson as England manager earlier this week but that seems highly unlikely with this news.

The Swans sacked Garry Monk earlier this season and replacement Francesco Guidolin and Alan Curtis have led the club away from relegation. However Guidolin is amongst the favourites to take over the Italy national team.

Done fantastic for them but not a believer of going back, for some reason rarely works. :bluebird:

Not a done deal yet.

A couple of journo's on Twitter saying Swansea board members maintain no agreements in place with any manager for next season.

I agree with this, going back to a former club, very rarely comes off for some reason

Let's hope he goes back and the theory is proved right.

In my opinion Rodgers is vastly overrated. His success at Swansea was built on the foundations laid by Martinez. Martinez weakness as a manager is defence and after he left Sousa sorted that out. Rodgers came in and used his Chelsea connections to bring in Sinclair and Then Borini. Sinclair was key to them going up.

At Liverpool when Sturbridge and Suarez were fit the team was able to beat teams thanks to the fire power rather than Rodgers tactics. As soon as those 2 were out of the team they struggled. Once Suarez left Liverpool became a mid table team and despite Rodgers spending millions he was a flop.

Let him go back to the vermin.

You omit to mention how well Swansea played in their first season in the Premier League without Borini not mentioning Sinclair who somewhat struggled that season.

Can't disagree with you about their first season in which they surprised a fair few people. I'm just saying that they wouldn't have gone up without Sinclair.

Probably not . Personally I think he will be a good fit for them - unless Martinez came on the market first .

A weak season, they borrowed Siguardsson and Caulker, and with Willaims just managed to stay up, I agree with Gaereth, he is overated he used his contacts well in those two seasons, if he comes back to them, I expect he will be back to Liverpool for Klopps rejects.....

Back with his tail between his legs. Lazy move by Rodgers if true and shows a lack of ambition. A manager deemed worthy of the mighty LFC not holding out for a big club home or abroad. Maybe it shows what the football world powers really think of his abilities?

Not sure that finishing 11th and eleven points clear of the relegation zone constitutes just managing to stay up, but hey ho

Absolutely spot on. I have said the exact same many, many times. Lucky and vastly overated.

Michu having the season of his life and chipping in with some 25 goals from midfield was a huge part of their first season success though and no way would anyone including Rogers have predicted he would have that kind of impact.

He's had his acheivments for sure but he just seems to be a lucky bugger!

That was their second season with Laudrup.

You're confusing their first season in the league with the second season. Michu joined in time for the second season, which was the season when he scored all those goals. Rodgers, incidentally, had left at the end of the first season to join Liverpool.

Michu played under Laudrup in our second/third season. I'm 50/50 about his return as he would bring back the old style but I would be worried about signings. Hopefully Pep will get rid of Bony and he comes back to us (they still owe us 8 million for him).

Unsure about Guidolin as his health is a bit sketchy and I've a feeling he would want to radically change things a bit too much if he stays on.
