If they'd run the race this morning instead of in the afternoon the whole thing would have finished before the rain started.
Any idea why the race started after lunch?
TV?

As it was the world half marathon championships hey wanted it to be broadcast all over the world so 2pm was the best time. Typical that the weather changed as we started!

My target was 1 hour and 22 minutes. I was on course to smash it but the weather certainly didn't help! Torrential rain and strong winds came from nowhere at about mile 10. If you look at my splits you can see how much I slow down. I was tired as well but the weather really did not help. I'm still pleased all things considered with 82.18 and 337th place.
Mo would have missed 90% of the sharp turn in the weather but of course the better you are the less it would hit you! It must have been hell for the runners near the back!
The support was sensational and as the freezing rain hammered down many stood their ground to cheer us on! A big thank you to everyone who pushed us on you all deserve medals!!

I would go on to say in the last 3 months of training up to 60 miles a week around Cardiff I have not encountered anything as unpleasant as the last 3 miles of that race!
Torrential cold rain is the worst thing a runner has to deal with especially when strong winds are involved too! Incredible it had to pop up at the most difficult part of the race for me but it could have came sooner.
You can plan all you like but you have no control over the weather. Everyone else has to deal with it including any runner behind me so that's the only way to look at it but it is bound to take a few seconds off you.

He should be ashamed.
Beaten by a bloke in a rabbit costume and a bloke in a tutu.
Did he do the ayatollah?

That was the best Mo could of done .... he`ll never ever beat the africans on the road over the longer distances. I dont see him winning Gold in Rio either. I predict a silver in the 5K and maybe a bronze in the 10K at best. Regarding the british marathon record held by Ebbw Vales Steve Jones since 1985 i think he might beat it but unlike Jones he wont be beating the best in the world in doing so ... STEVE JONES is and will alway be the best british marathon runner ever and still holds the 4 fastest british times Mo holds number 5
