George Williams

Still a young lad and has been injured. Now on loan at Gillingham! Always seems dangerous any hard working for Wales.

What about a City bid to Fulham? I,d like to see another young Welsh forward at Cardiff.

No thanks, can't get into the Fulham team.

"Lets sign player X because he plays for Wales" nonsense.

Exactly. Silly thinking.

Could the fact he is not in the Fulham team be linked to the reasons that he has been troubled by a few injuries and he is still only 20 years old.!!
As per the original post. (I remember being told by Roathie how stupid it was to say that by 2015 Swansea would be battling relegation and that Gary Monk would be gone.
Let's leave it a couple of years and see how successful George Williams is. Barring injury I think he may be playing in the Prem. For now I'll bow to your clearly superior knowledge of the game! "Silly thinking" is a brilliant analysis and definitive assessment of the likelihood of GW becoming a very good footballer. Why haven't you approached Chris Coleman to offer your valued and succinct thoughts on the final 23 for the Euros!

His age is nothing, there's a lot of players his age playing at Championship and PL level. He plays for Gillingham in League One and is hardly pulling up trees down there. He couldn't get into the Fulham team. Just because a player plays for Wales it does not mean we should sign him.

Get back under your rock you condescending prick.

What the f**k are you on about?! Personally, I'm a big fan of his and think he has the potential to be a great player, both for whichever club he plays and Wales. 'Silly thinking' was in response to Bluebird since 1948 who rightly criticised this obsession with wanting to sign any Welsh player who shows some promise. It was the same with Jonny Williams a few years back. 'Never mind how unrealistic it is, let's sign him because he's Welsh'. Doesn't work like that.

This would be fair comment BUT - I have never called for us to sign a player pure!y cos he's Welsh. That is why 1948 and his flippant comments p+ssed me off.
I rate the lad as a player who may have a big future AND who we might get at a good price. (Especially if he does not make it to the Euros. However, if I were picking the quad I'dbe very tempted to take him) .

This is the beauty of our current national side, mediocre players at club level like George Williams, Jonny Williams and Robson Kanu step up and play like world beaters when they don the Welsh shirt, even though they are all English born. That is credit to Chris Coleman who gets the best out of these players and instills some national pride in them that boosts performances.

However at club level those three are hardly pulling up trees, Reading fans are always bemoaning HRK, George Williams is on loan at a tin pot League One side and Jonny Williams has had a handful of appearances for Palace in years and has been farmed out. George Williams and Jonny performed very well on Thursday like they always do when they play for their country, fact is at club level all three of them have never impressed me when they have played us. But hey lets sign them because their Welsh.

If you want this club to go up then stop suggesting we sign players who aren't even excelling at this level.

Not only that but people are forgetting that this was only a friendly and most of the players were just jogging with one eye on the next championship game.

Its the same as our fans chanting for opposition players who play for Wales. Hal Robson Kanu got chanted at reading (i understand he plays for Wales and we have qualified for Euros) but he has never wanted to play for us and never will. Will our fans chant his name if he goes to the Jacks of course they wouldnt. Would they have chanted his name again if he had scored a 90th min winner against us and we missed out on playoffs because of it!
