News is breaking in the last few minutes that the legendary Dutch footballer, manager and genius Johan Cruyff has passed away, aged 68.

The news was broken on Cruyff's official Facebook page. The man who helped pioneer Total Football and revolutionised the game had been suffering from lung cancer.

Cruyff will go down as the most influential footballer in modern history, winning three European Cups with Ajax as a player and managing Barcelona to four consecutive La Liga titles with his 'Dream Team' of the early '90s, who also claimed the club's first Champions League, at Wembley in 1992.

Rest In Peace, Johann. A true legend of the game.

Yes, he really dazzled us all with his unique skills on the ball in the 1974 world cup - TRUE LEGEND of the game.

1970 and 1974 World cups were Fantastic for skills and overall excitement and enjoyment.

Besides which World cup 1974 featured our own great "ADRIAN ALSTON" playing for Australia (even if the they did go home early).

As a kid i couldn't get enough football i would play and read about it constantly. Somehow that dutch/Ajax 433 seemed a world away from watching city in the late 70's early 80's and Cruyff was a its vanguard.

How many players have created a move and the name has stuck.
