Northern Ireland are currently eight games unbeaten and will equal a 30-year-old record if they avoid defeat, the last time they went nine matches without a loss being between 1985 and 1986 during Billy Bingham’s time in charge.
Wales are unbeaten in their last seven outings against Northern Ireland, the most recent meeting in May 2011 as part of the ill-fated Nations Cup tournament in Dublin where goals from Ramsey and Robert Earnshaw sealed a 2-0 win and Gary Speed’s first victory as national boss. Six of the current squad were involved in that game.
