You'll never guess how Lex Immers celebrated his latest Cardiff City goal in Wigan on Sunday

Lex Immers didn't spend Sunday putting his feet up after his latest goal-scoring display, he went to Wigan for another sporting encounter

As a huge darts fan, Cardiff City's Lex Immers has more than just an eye for goal when it comes to his sporting talents.

And the Dutch striker, who has made an impressive impact with the Bluebirds since joining from Feyenoord in January, has now taken his passion for the oche to the next level.

Remarkably, the 29-year-old took part in a Professional Darts Corporations (PDC) Challenge Tour event in Wigan on Sunday, just a day after scoring for Cardiff in their 1-1 draw with Reading.

A talented darts player who is known for his love of the game, Immers' tilt for a qualification place on the PDC tour proper didn't quite go to plan.

In the past Immers has spoken openly about his desire to become a professional darts player but in the Unicorn Challenger event he was beaten in both his qualification matches.

He first went down to a 5-1 defeat to Kevin Dowling before his hopes came to an end with a 5-2 reversal to Paul Cooper.

It meant Immers' hopes of going any further in the tournament came to an end at the last 128 stage but the setback is unlikely to stop the striker's huge passion for the game.

Immers was encouraged to enter the tournament by fellow Dutchman and former multiple world champion Raymond van Barneveld who has previously offered him support in his pursuit to get better at the game.

Immers said in September: “I even asked Raymond van Barneveld if it is possible to get into the PDC at my age. He says that it is absolutely possible.

“If you are sure you have the talent, then you should do it. I personally think it's possible.”

While he received a setback on the darting front, Cardiff fans will be hoping Immers can keep his impressive form on the football pitch going.

He's scored four league goals in his time with the Bluebirds, helping Russell Slade's men to three points off the Championship's play-off places.

Just thought of a cracker of a song for lex immers and i bet he would love it. The tune that they sing in the world championships on sky, the main song you know.. cant remember the name of the song but like at the darts would sound awsome all city fans singing it and putting "lex immers!" on the end instead of "oi oi oi!
