Has Sammy Ameobi got something to offer?

One player who took his chance from the bench in spectacular fashion against Reading was Sammy Ameobi, darting straight from the dug-out to the opposition goal, with Lex Immers converting his effort off the post.
He has been a bit-part player ever since being sent off in farcical fashion against Charlton, shooting after the whistle had been blown in the final minute.

One goal in 35 games is just not good enough for a player with Premier League pedigree, and many would argue that others in the squad have earned a chance ahead of the Newcastle man.
They might be right, but performances talk, and if Ameobi can replicate his Madejski fireworks, Slade will be forced to find a role for him. As ever with Ameobi, however, that can never be guaranteed.
