Derby Is Now Massive - Slade

Vital football

Monday 21st March 2016

Manager Russell Slade was disappointed to see Cardiff lose ground in the Play Off race with the weekend's draw against Reading, but he also knows what that makes the next game against Derby.

Going into the international break now with a point following substitute Lex Immers' blush saving goal as we trailed at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday, Slade told Wales Online that with results elsewhere this weekend, it means Derby is now a must win game for Cardiff as we head towards the run in.

'It's a massive game for us. It's a bit frustrating because we came here looking to win but we can at least be pleased with the character we showed and the desire to turn a game around away from home. But we knew all our rivals were playing at home and we didn't want Wednesday or Derby winning. But we have a huge game in two weeks' time and we can look forward to it because a win can put us right back in it and can show how the pendulum will swing over these final weeks. And the qualities we showed here to get something from the game are going to be massively important for us in these last seven games.'
