I find it a bit annoying when people refer to it as The Old Lady as no-one ever did - it was just Ninian Park. Its the same as people calling Caroline Street Chippy Lane or Chip Alley. Its not, its just Caroline Street. It seems that folks who don't live in or in the vicinity of Cardiff have made this up as they don't know the area.
Since a kid and into adulthood, I always loved the Cardiff City Football Club signage font type at the front of Ninian Park across the grey corrugated metal cladding. I still think it looks amazing now. Wish I would have bought one of those t-shirts that the 12th Man poster was doing a while back as it was that view of the stadium with that writing that I always found special.

I lived in Cardiff from 1976 to 2010, and agree totally. It was always Ninian Park and Caroline Street. Nothing else. And a pint of 'light', please!
The 'Cardiff City Football Club' on the grandstand did look good, but the same on the new stadium doesn't look bad, either.
Ninian Park had its ups and downs. It was not always like the photo in the OP. It wasn't just young blokes in their 20s and 30s, either. There were always girls at the football, (fewer than now, perhaps), and families and older blokes too.
There were great nights like the Hereford game, but not such great times too. There was a photo in yesterday's a Reading programme of a game at Ninian Park in the mid-80s, where Reading beat us 3-1 in front of a 3k crowd.
Many of us will remember Ninian Park fondly, but as it really was. Some games were fantastic, others not so. Sometimes, the atmosphere was spine tingling, sometimes you could hear a pin drop.
That's my memories, anyway!![]()

I discussed this with my Dad earlier who is into his '70's and Canton born and bred. He said it was always Ninian Park and Caroline Street so these new terms are very recent and from folks not native to the area.
If you don't already have it, a book I really recommend is Our Ninian Park. I think the club shop stock it but it's on Amazon if not, a superb book to always have around.![]()
