Cardiff City keeper David Marshall a major doubt to face Reading after missing Madejski preparations

Friday 18th March 2016

Simon Moore came in for the 1-0 win over Ipswich at the Cardiff City Stadium last weekend

Cardiff City could be without goalkeeper David Marshall for a second consecutive game as the 31-year-old continues to battle a virus.

Marshall has been absent for much of the week in preparation for the trip to Reading and is rated very doubtful, meaning Simon Moore may get the chance to deputise again.

Moore came in for the 1-0 win over Ipswich at the Cardiff City Stadium last weekend as the Bluebirds maintained their position on the edge of the play-offs - his sixth appearance of the season.

Disappointing.

Always feel much more secure when Marshall is playing. When another team attacks us and Moore is playing, I get nervous straight away.

Think he's got one mistake in him a game.

What a strange comment that is about Moore.
I have not seen a great deal of Moore but what I have seen he has been OK.

The reason I find it strange is it suggests Marshall is good at commanding his area and coming for crosses.

We all agree Marshall is one of the best shot stoppers in the game without a doubt. he is also one of the best keepers in the league and probably as good as some prem keepers, but one thing for sure is that his shot stopping is not matched by his presence in the box.
Marshall would have been with a top prem club if he could match them, it is no secret that all the gossip about him being sold to a top club never happened and that is done to one thing, his reluctance to come and command his area. He has been working on it but he knows, like anyone who watches him regular, that is his weak side.

As said he is a great keeper and better for us to have him than another club but the comment regarding Moore is out of context as Marshall has the very same issue.
