READING V CARDIFF CITY

JUST A SHORT TRIP UP THE M4 :ayatollah:

Date and Time: Saturday 19th March (15.00)

Venue: Madejski Stadium

Referee: Darren Drysdale

Cardiff travel to the Madejski Stadium to face Brian McDermott’s Reading who currently find themselves in the bottom-half of the Championship. Cardiff need to keep up their good form to stay within touching distance of the play-offs.

The Bluebirds make the short trip up the m4 to face Reading at the Madejski in a bid to keep in touch with the play-offs. Russell Slade’s men are currently one point outside the Championship’s top six in seventh position.

Last time out, Cardiff had to grind out a slender 1-0 win against play-off rivals Ipswich Town and the Cardiff City Stadium. In the current Championship form table, Cardiff are actually second after picking up 12 points from six games.

Reading are enduring another troubling season and their now on their second manager after replacing Steve Clarke with former manager Brian McDermott. The Royals are currently fifteenth in the table, seven points above the relegation zone.

Reading were beaten by high-flyers Brighton at the Amex during mid-week with James Wilson getting the crucial goal for the Seagulls. Manager McDermott actually kept his team in the dressing room for 45 minutes following the Brighton game, giving his men a stern talking to.

When the two teams met earlier in the season, Cardiff come out on top thanks to goals from Matthew Connolly and Kenwyne Jones. On that occasion there was just one position between the two teams but currently they are separated by eight places. Cardiff have won four of the last six meetings between the two clubs.
