Cardiff City defender Declan John extends Chesterfield loan deal until the end of the season
Walesonline
Tuesday March 15th
Cardiff City defender Declan John has extended his loan spell with League One side Chesterfield to the end of the season.
Welsh left-back John, who was involved with the Bluebirds during their one season in the Premier League, has fallen out of favour with Cardiff and hasn't been considered by boss Russell Slade.
Slade allowed him to leave for Chesterfield, initially on a one month loan deal, to get some game time into the young defender's legs.
In his time away from the Welsh capital, the 20-year-old John has made five appearances for Chesterfield.
He will now remain with the Spireites until May 8.
A hugely talented prospect, John remains a formidable outlet rampaging down the left side.
Would you like to see Declan John play?
But concerns over his defensive capabilities have led Slade to prefer either Fabio or Scott Malone in the left-back slot.
On announcing the news of John's extended deal, a Cardiff City statement read: "Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that Declan John’s loan deal with Chesterfield FC has been extended until the end of the 2015/16 league season.
"We’d like to wish Declan the very best of luck during the remainder of his time with the Spireites."

Their fans say he's doing really well over there, hopefully he can fight for a match-day squad place with us over the summer.

Hopefully he will make a breakthrough next year. He's still young and could have a big future here.

Well done to him for having a great attitude and Slade also for seeing that he needs to still improve his game else where before breaking in.

Declan John will remain at the Proact until the end of the season, after Chesterfield reached a deal with Cardiff City to extend the defender’s loan spell.
The 20-year-old has been impressive in his five appearances for the Spireites, during his initial month’s loan.
A product of the Cardiff academy, John made his debut in 2012 and has played twice for Wales as a full international.
Last year he went out on loan to Barnsley, where he played nine times between the beginning of March and the end of the season.
Somewhat ironically, he arrived at Oakwell just weeks after the departure of Chesterfield manager Danny Wilson.
The youngster’s loan deal at the Proact runs out on 8th May.
