' REMARKABLE TRANSFORMATION '

Sun Mar 13, 2016 9:26 am

I have taken this extract from one of Steve Tucker's pieces this morning, I hope now that the Echo actually get behind the manager and his efforts for the remaining games.

One transformation perhaps nobody saw coming, the metamorphosis of Russell Slade himself from hapless, bumbling lame duck to some sort of fans’ favourite.

The Cardiff manager again doffed his cap as the stands rang with his name after the final whistle, a sight really, after all the vitriol poured on him, to have one almost rubbing one’s eyes in disbelief.

Slade seems to have gone from useless PE teacher more suited to Scarborough to reliable, safe pair of hands, able to slash budgets and remain a play-off push all at the same time. It is totally remarkable.

Slade deserves huge credit for turning us into genuine top 6 contenders. After the defeat away to derby where a large amount of fans were singing we're effing shit I genuinely thought we would drop like a stone and at same time I thought Derby would run away with the league. Now we have Derby in our sights and the top 6 is a realistic possibility.

Now is the time for us all to get behind Slade and the team. Believe. :bluescarf: :sladein: :bluebird: :ayatollah:

Tucker is a tosser but he's in good company on here, jumped on a popular bandwagon to get rid of Slade and was acting on gossip and innuendo to try and get rid of him.Now that the truth is out its laughable watching the same people trying to re-invent themselves and yet if you criticise their opinion they are the first to throw their toys out of the pram.

Agree.

However time for us all to pull together for one last push.

It'll still be a miracle if we go up, but while the possibility is there, we should as fans, give the boys every last bit of support possible. Starting by getting our arses off to Reading and filling that end- singing our hearts out.
Surely that is what being a fan is all about - pulling together as one with pride for your home town club ? :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

The games coming up v Derby at home, Wednesday away will be huge. All big now though. We appear to have games v a lot of teams with nothing to play for like qpr, reading, Brentford and Fulham. Surely we sure be all over them and not losing like we did to Leeds? The last game v brum could be the biggest of all but I doubt it will go to the wire. I just can't imagine us making the playoffs, and the thought of promotion hasn't even entered my head all season. It would rank as the weirdest season in my 30 years of following us if we somehow went up. :bluescarf:
Anyway, need a good one at reading and then give Derby a good go as they are doing a cardiff again.

Ridiculously harsh wording from Tucker there.

The fact is the majority of the fans support the manager, it's only really the media and people who take what they say for gospel that are against Slade.

Would be nice if the media could support the manager, because he's taken to a position nobody expected us to be with nine games to go.

Perhaps this change is similar to the early days of Jones prior to the cup final?
Fans meeting with risdale demanding Jones be sacked, what followed was probably one of the most successful periods in the clubs history.
    Hope I'm right.

Its very simple for me. If your are managing my club and we are doing shit, you get in the neck from me. In contrast If you are managing my club and doing well then im gonna praise you loudly.

what about last season you can't deny the football we all had to witness but this season slade has proved many wrong including myself so I think tuckers quite bang on with this

I think some posters on here cannot distinguish between the difference of supporting the team on a Saturday afternoon and offering a different view about Slades ability on a message board after the game.

I am 100% Cardiff City, i support the blues, Glamorgan and of course Wales, but am passionate about us.I am one of the few who join in chants in the family stand. I think Slade stumbled upon this recent formula totally by accident, everyone deserves a bit of luck and (god willing ;) ) he continues it for another two months.

The mood has changed and the echo only reflects this, long gone are the days when they can influence the fans, they always jump on the bandwagon a bit later nowadays.

Whoever is advising Vinny is doing a much better job, as the timing of his visit has been the difference, since then there has been a glimmer of a buzz.
I noticed the Wednesday fans main chant was "on our way back", I hate it when we copy other clubs chants, but this would be a good steal. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Strangely if I remember correctly we played Ipswich in the game where Jones had '2 games to save his job'

We won that game and went onto Wembley a few months later.

Tuckers views and comments are completely irrelevant...nobody buys the echo anymore

Personally I like Slade as a person and have a lot of respect for him especially as he has been crusified in the press by idiots like Tucker (who is a Div 2 standard journalist at best)

Do I think he is a good manager...not particularly...I think he stumbled upon our recent formation and how couldn't see our midfield was getting overrun every game for 12 months is beyond me

Of course your entitled to your opinion on the merits of the manager or otherwise but statements like" I think Slade stumbled upon this recent formula totally by accident"is based on what?Your superior knowledge of the game?Being the most most loyal supporter in the history of the club?To be fair some of the criticism by people on here is beyond the pale and I wouldn't mind if it was based on genuine expertise but it aint. As I've said elsewhere Tan dispelled a lot of bullshit spoken about Slade recently and now the great and the good in the local media and some other self important fans who can't except their previous guesswork was wrong are doing their best to re-invent their opinion. When it comes to running a football club I would say that Slade has probably forgotten more than most fans will ever know,me included.

Its based upon my view of how i see the team perform against my expectations. This is a fans messageboard, nothing should be taken that seriously. The average non sticky gets read a few hundred times with barely 20 responses, against a 15K attendance with more than treble that on the city fan base.

Not being of the social media generation I find the whole its written on the internet therefore true quite remarkable.

My logic for thinking he stumbling into this formula are, that only before Christmas Slade described O'Keefe as a squad player and moaned about losing Mason and Jones. Since then O'Keefe (his signing) has been a revelation and the work rate of Immers and movement of Lawrence has made a huge difference. He could have played Pilkington up front whenever he wanted, but never.

A decent reply, though saying he could have played Pilkington up front sooner is a bit harsh.Nobody knew, not even the player.A bit of good fortune for all I think forced by a situation that Slade had no control over.
