After a very hard to take defeat to Leeds just 4 days ago where Cardiff went down to 10 men and played their hearts out from the very first minute, City had another tough test from Ipswich. Slade was dealt a blow in the form of Davey Marshal picking up a virus and having to be replaced in goal by the sometimes woeful Simon Moore. Slade also due to Fabios suspension had to rush Pelts back.
Fatigue had clearly set in most of the players due to the Leeds game but again they never gave up. Bringing in Noone for Lawrence was a great decision as Noone not only offers us a bit more on goal he covers a lot of ground every game and tracks back
First 45 minutes its was all us, second half they started the stronger of the two teams and never let it go, but still never looked like a team threatening the play offs. When Whitts got injured I was saying bring on Lawrence to add a bit more threat to the team, but instead Slade bought on Gunnarson to solidify the midfield and IMO this was the correct decision. Although he isn't the same player he used to be he did he job right broke up play and kept running. Ipswich were still keeping the ball well so Slade changed the formation and took of Pilks who just couldn't keep him self on side today (Or Tuesday) for Diki from that point City never looked like letting a goal in.
People will complain about the 'style' of football we're playing but IMO its not the worst I have seen down here (Before Slade came also) and we have played a lot better than we did today and lost or drew. Russell your tactics were spot on today
Not going to say you need a new contract yet but keep the players playing like they have been of late and it will be very hard for anyone to say you don't deserve it
