Cardiff City and Leeds United face decision over future of 'massively frustrated' Tom Adeyemi - Steve Evans

Thursday 10th March 2016

Adeyemi has become a peripheral figure at Elland Road after falling behind Liam Bridcutt and Toumani Diagouraga in the midfield pecking order

On-loan Cardiff City midfielder Tom Adeyemi's future at Leeds United is unclear with Steve Evans reportedly saying a decision rests with the clubs' respective chairmen.

Adeyemi joined the Whites under Uwe Rosler last summer on a season-long loan deal but has become a peripheral figure at Elland Road, starting just one game so far in 2016.

He has expressed his frustration at his lack of first-team opportunities but there is believed to be no clause in the deal to terminate his loan early.

Adeyemi again missed out during Leeds' 2-0 win over his parent club at the Cardiff City Stadium this week as part of the terms of his loan.

Leeds boss Steve Evans has now suggested that the club hierarchies have been in touch about his situation.

On Adeyemi's future, Evans told BBC Radio Leeds: "That decision lies with the Cardiff City chairman and ours."

The 24-year-old has found himself down the pecking order in Leeds' midfield following the arrivals of Liam Bridcutt and Toumani Diagouraga in recent months.

He played 90 minutes for Leeds' development side on Monday in their win over Sheffield Wednesday but admitted afterwards he was very disappointed with how his spell in West Yorkshire had turned out.

He said: "It's massively frustrating [not to be playing]. It's been really disappointing, I can't look at it any other way. I came here to play games and in recent times I haven't been able to do that.

"Opportunities have been hard to come by of late, but I still believe in myself, I believe I should be playing. But it's up to the manager and if I get another opportunity then I will do my best to take it and hopefully force my way in.

"I need to try and stay positive and hope that my opportunity will come again. I played well [on Monday], but whether that means anything I'm not too sure."

When the Slade haters were in full flow allowing this guy to go to Leeds was always sited as one of the reasons for their misplaced wisdom.

I like Adeyemi, you never know how things will turn out for the guy. He puts in a strong shift and covers the whole midfield.

He did the same when he came here - showed promise then disappeared

Still think he has potential to come good, but needs to be getting games somewhere.

Same. His first season with us seemed able to run through defenders. Have no idea what happened to him.
