Cardiff lost a little home comfort with the defeat. The loss was only the second time the Bluebirds have been beaten on their own patch this season, the last coming back in September against Hull.
It means they missed the chance to equal the best unbeaten home run in the Championship this season, the 14 matches set by Sheffield Wednesday before they went down to Rotherham at Hillsborough at the weekend.
