" FABIO FRUSTRATES "

By Chris Wathan

08/03/16

Given they won both games in his absence, it may be easy to think that Cardiff have not missed Fabio during his injury. The Brazilian took little time to remind what he offers the side upon his return to fitness, impressing in both aspects of his game.

He showcased his ability to add to the attack with good forward runs and had suggested he has kept his maturity in defence, before those rash tackles led to two yellows.

I really don't get this Fabio "love in". Yes I know he gives 100% and he puts himself about....but tonight just summed up his shortcomings an own goal and a stupid rash challenge to get himself sent off.

He's an experienced player surely he has enough sense not to fly into that challenge....he give the ref no option but to send him off...it was just naive defending he let his team down

Epic fail. :laughing6:

To blame the own goal on him proves you couldnt have been at the game.

People know im not a fabio fan. And the challenge was rash but manga has to take some of the blame

I certainly was at the game I'm sitting in the car park waiting for traffic to clear...why should Manga take the blame for a stupid rash challenge by Fabio????

Because his poor distribution again put us on the back foot.

Please tell me how the first goal was fabios fault

Unfortunately, we will never put together a consistent run of form at this level with inconsistent players like Fabio in the team. It's the crucial stage to the season and when you look around at the squad and pick out the players you know you can rely on, Fabio definitely isn't one of them.

It was a ridiculous decision from Fabio to fly in when already on a booking, he's let us all down tonight. Unfortunately, he will continually make these rash decisions because of his over enthusiasm. Fabio's over enthusiasm makes him a fan favourite, but his over enthusiasm also makes him a defensive liability.

He is a bloody liability

I was surprised that Connelly didn't start at full back. We need steady heads at this point and Connolly has seen it and done it several times. At least he will Saturday.

Fabio should be given a shot on the wing I think personally.

Fabio should just be shot !!!!

He is meant to be a professional footballer not some hot head parks footballer.....

10 more games then

He has no concept of timing.

If Connolly starts right back which I have no doubt he will, Sean Morrison will partner Manga in the centre. I don't rate Fabio, Morrison or Malone defensively.

When Connolly, Manga and Peltier were together in our back 4, we had 3 out of 4 reliable defenders and could get away with Malone's or Fabio's defensive frailties.

As Middlesbrough away showed, we didn't get away with playing both Malone and Fabio as full backs. I'm hoping we will get away with a weakened defence at home, but losing Peltier is a massive blow and I fear we will concede goals and drop some points away from home now until Peltier returns.

Morrison does give us an attacking threat from corners, pretty pointless sending up Manga and Connolly

Did you see Connolly at right back Saturday? Awful

As for an OG, is the OP serious? No comment about the goal scorer running passed Ralls who made no attempt to stay with him?

Then to ask why Manga has to take any blame, a shocking pass that was not needed, from our own free kick.

From where I was sat, me and a few around us thought that Fabio took the ball, although I may be wrong.

It was a stupid tackle whichever way but to slate him, and him only is wrong

We kept throwing Manga and Connolly up for corners, flooded the six yard box and posed no threat whatsoever. Then, as soon as we brought the big guy on we immediately started to take short corners. Brilliant.

I was a bit far away in the Canton but for the first booking my initial reaction was that he had won the ball.

##You can't go diving in, sending him off is like a badge of honour for lower level refs !!!!

I have seen much worse tackles than his first been given as just free kicks. Also thought that the second one where it was rash I felt he got the ball and the player made the most of it, I look forward to watching it back on highlights as I may well be wrong

I was not just slating Fabio...the point I was trying to get across is that Fabio is basically a piss poor defender..and I don't care that he runs around all game like an headless chicken...he got himself sent off tonight and to make excuses and try to blame it on other players is wrong he has only got himself to blame...you wouldn't expect a parks player to make a rash challenge like he did when he was on a yellow card

not totally blameless of course, but manga has to take some of the blame for the red card as well, putting us under pressure and drawing out a tackle like that with a poor pass yet again

Exactly, must of been easier for Maldini to have Nesta next to him anyway  :ayatollah:

Malone could have easily got to that ball when Leeds went on to get their first goal. Instead he allowed them to get the ball in a dangerous position and back pedalled until Fabio came in to make a challenge. Perhaps the ball came off Fabio last but he looked far more interested in stopping that goal than Malone did :?
Saying that though, we should never have just kept the one defender back for that so if Fabio wasn't so far out of position in the first place, perhaps we would have cleared the ball :laughing6:

He's a decent defender, time will tell...
