Because we are Welsh NOT English... If we'd belted out Mae hen Wlad fy Nhadau do you think the wurzels would have clapped politely??

We sang Mae Hen Wlad fy Nhadau before the game & in the first half? Did you not hear or weren't you there?
I'm 100% Welsh - but still British.

A divisive anthem due to its imperialistic overtones. It breeds resentment among three of the nations of the U.K., it breeds resentment among the working class of the U.K.

What resentment does it breed in Scotland or Northern Ireland? Imperialistic overtones? Where are they?

Second or third verse about crushing rebellious scots?
45% of population of Northern Ireland seeing it as an anthem of an establishment that was perceived to be oppressive?
The sound trumpets the omnipotence of the English royal family who conquered Wales and put to the sword its own Royal households.
GSTQ is imperialistic by definition given that it heralds a triumphant Anglo-Norman aristocracy who stole land from the common people, thereby resulting in 90% of the land in the U.K. Being owned by the crown and the church, leaving 'common land' for the commoners ( poor), which is the worst, least valuable land that was left.
As I said, it's divisive to say the least

6th verse:
Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush.
God save the Queen!
