Helpful to the visiting team or is it just a myth?
In the last few weeks, Sheffield Wednesday took 6,000 to Preston - lost
Birmingham took 3,300 to QPR - lost
Boro took 4,500 to Blackburn - lost.
I think the modern day footballer is conditioned to block out the crowd, the Twelth Man in yester-year.

In the 70's, 80's & 90's I would say def yes as the fans were by far more passionate in them days and it meant a lot more to the players as many more were in them days local players to the clubs and many players wore the shirt with pride. Jason Perry,Phil Dwyer,Carl Dale etc etc use to tell me that it meant so much to them running out to a large fanatical following etc.
But now I feel most players are at clubs, 100% just for the money, they get a bit of team spirit, but all they think about is their pocket and themselves and don't really care if the fans are there or not. Plus the passion has been even taking out of a lot of players by the authorities stopping their celebrations.

Also Leeds away followings are prob some of the best in the UK, just look at their team.

I do think fans have a part to play.
At Middlesbrough, their team improved right when they did the tribute to Ali Brownlee and their fans' noise started getting louder.
All depends on individual players, some don't deal well with the noise and it motivates some.
You can make an argument for or against, either at home or away.

I do agree Fans have a big part to play, but it seems a long time since we played our part.

went to Hull midweek, i dont think we had a shot on goal.
Decided to give Wolves (4 days later) a miss.
We won at Wolves, with a passionate away support, i think it makes a difference based on those 2 games.

Good grief, you are right.
Just nipping to bookies before the game to put a sizeable bet on today's game
