'CELLINO 'PROTECTED STEVE EVANS'

04/03/16

Leeds head coach Steve Evans felt he was protected by club president Massimo Cellino's decision to order him not to speak to the media on Monday night after their 4-0 defeat at Brighton.

"When I learnt the reasons later that night and the following day then I wholly accept them," Evans said. "I think people, senior to me at this football club, protected me and I respect that."

And the former Rotherham boss remains confident he will still be at Elland Road in the summer.

When asked if he felt he was close to getting the sack on Monday night, Evans said: "I never lie in fear of my job because I work too hard at it and people have to make decisions whether they want you or you don't."

He struggled at Rotherham in this league, despite doing well in Leagues One and Two. Was a very strange appointment for them in the first place, but that's Cellino for you.

Hope he's still in charge on Tuesday, even though he's beaten us twice this season. Their fans are against him again now.

I wouldn't call him keeping Rotherham up in their first season in the championship a "struggle". Blackpool aside they were the smallest club in the division. Where would you have expected them to finish?

You seem to be hanging out of Slades arse recently yet Steve Evans has had no less than 6 promotions in his managerial career compared to Slades big fat ZERO. He's won back to back promotions 2 years on the trot with 2 different clubs.

2 promotions on the trot then keeping Rotherham up in the championship a "struggle"? You're having a laugh!!!

I'm sure Steve Evans would love to manage the "mess" Slade has in managing players that cost or get paid millions of pounds, premier league experience, international experience.etc

Well he was sacked by Rotherham? They didn't believe he was good enough and Leeds were ridiculed when he got that job.

Can't argue with facts that Evans has had plenty of promotions, but he doesn't have Slade's experience. With what Slade came into, I don't think Evans would have done as well. Obviously my opinion.

So a genuine question for you - do you think Evans would have done a better job than Slade has with us?

You could also argue that Leeds are in just as bad a position as we were when Slade came in, so do you think Evans could get Leeds to within three points of the play-offs next season with 12 games to go?

Leeds are in a just a bad a position as we were :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5:

Do Leeds have the best goalkeeper in the division? Centre halfs a who either cost 4 or 5 million? Or have won 4 promotions from this division? Maybe a player who's been one of the best midfielders in the division for the last 7 or 8 years? Or the Icelanduc captain? Or what about an Oirish international who's been promoted from this division and has Premiership experience? Maybe up until 10 games ago a striker whos plied his trade in the Premiership for a decade or so ? Add to that several players who won this division 3 years ago. What a bloody mess?!?!?

And yes he got sacked because the chairman had delusions of grandeur and surprise surprise sacked the next bloke after no more than 20 league games.

As for doesn't have Slades experience he was managing before you were born ffs

He won his first promotion the last millenium. Do me favour?!?!?

Yes I do think Evans could have done a better job than Slade if he had the squad Slade had / has. If we were going for a cheap Lower division manager id rather have gone with Evans winning mentality and record than tread the water Slade.

Why are you comparing the Leeds job to Cardiff when I've just spelt it out to you that we have a far, far better squad than Leeds?

If the Cardiff job was a "mess" I dread to think what the Leeds job could be described as.

Both as bad as each other I feel.

Clearly have different opinions on this one, fair enough :thumbright:
