Steve Evans is on the brink of becoming owner Massimo Cellino’s sixth managerial casualty at crisis club Leeds after they were annihilated by Brighton.
Evans watched as his side conceded four goals in 20 first-half minutes, Tomer Hemed striking twice, with Sam Baldock and Lewis Dunk also on target.
Cellino stormed out of the Amex at the interval, sparking rumours he will sack Evans on Tuesday morning. Brian McDermott, Dave Hockaday, Darko Milanic, Neil Redfearn and Uwe Rosler have all exited since Cellino arrived at Elland Road in January 2014.
He ordered Evans not to talk to the media after Monday night’s embarrassment, but assistant Paul Raynor said: “It was simply shambolic.
“The manager is in there dissecting it with the players. I don’t blame Cellino walking out. He doesn’t want to be sat there watching that. It was unacceptable.”
Hemed got the mauling underway with a cheekily chipped 18th-minute penalty after Liam Rosenior was hauled to the ground by Scott Wootton.
Baldock doubled the lead with a shot which was diverted past his own keeper by Wootton.
Hemed grabbed his second of the game just before the half-hour and Dunk made it 4-0 with a powerful header on 38 minutes.
Evans has overseen just one win in 11 as United have slipped to 17th in the Championship.
Chris Hughton’s fortune – as the south coast promotion hunters secured back to back 4-0 wins.
Hughton, whose side are now just a point off the automatic places, said: “It was a relief when the first one went in and we are going through a spell where the margins are going our way.
“We’re not playing better, we’re just taking our chances more. We are delighted for Tomer, as a striker you get frustrated when you’re not scoring goals but Tomer worked hard.”

1 win in 11 games?
I knew they weren't setting the world on fire but that surprised me, tbh!
Given their creditable support, the once 'mighty' Leeds are simply not stepping up to the mark and (whilst I thought him an odd appointment for manager after he had previously slated the club) I do have some sympathy for Evans, as Leeds are in genuine decline under Cellino and he doesn't appear to want to take any personal responsibility whatsoever!

If he goes it'll surely be some sort of record for the number of managers sack in the championship this year, but, as we have seen before bringing in another manager doesn't necessarily fix things.

Wonder who they beat

Steve, we are without the most benevolent club in The Championship to those less fortunate than ourselves!
